THIS book on the art of achieving peace and happiness is written by a faculty of an engineering college of Pune and a freelance counselor who shares his feelings and experiences about the art of living. The whole world tries to be happy but very few people are happy in today’s world. We run after happiness and the more we chase it, the unhappier we become. Here the author points out that no one can change happiness as it is “the state of inner being and comes from within.” In today’s materialistic world, the people are obsessed with material possessions and the more they possess, the more restless they become. The author advises exploration of the inner world in spite of the outer world if one wants peace of mind and happiness.
For attaining peace of mind one needs to have a simple lifestyle coupled with a kind and benevolent nature. Happiness on other hand is the state of mind and this cannot be attained by chasing it. It has to come from within by making oneself satisfied with what one has.
The author says that creativity is at stake. Everybody has become so materialistic that feeding the false ego of post, power, authority and designation has become his sole aim. A potter can be internally happy in spite of his poverty because he gives shape to his thoughts.
The author uses many quotations, anecdotes and sayings of different personalities. Self-faith is the foundation on which a happy mind rests and to corroborate his beliefs, he lists out 90 points to follow to learn the art of living and be happy.
