A teenage girl goes missing from her room. A girl much loved by her parents and friends. There is no clue, no reason for her disappearance. Dan Mercer, a man who works with adolescents is ‘trapped’ in a TV show by Wendy Tynes and is suspected to be behind the mystery of the missing girl. Caught by Harlan Coben builds an intriguing plot which involves a group of five people, who had been college mates and thick friends several years ago. A tragedy, rather a macabre mishap happens in college. It in a way comes back to haunt them. By the time Wendy Tynes realises that Mercer is not the pedophile she portrayed him to be, it is too late because Mercer is killed and his body removed without a trace. In order to correct the wrong she did to Mercer, Tynes gets down investigating his disappearance. Every time she thinks she had come to a dead end, she finds new clues and doggedly pursues them, till the end.

This is yet another super thriller from Harlan Coben, an acknowledged master in crime stories, with sub-urban background.
