FORMER Union Law Minister and leading Supreme Court lawyer Dr Subramanian Swamy demanded the CBI to interrogate Congress general secretaries Rahul Gandhi and Digvijay Singh to know whether they have evidence beyond what the agency itself has for the phenomenon of what they call ‘Hindu terrorism’ and also to prove the connection between the so-called Hindu terror and the RSS.
In a statement issued in New Delhi on December 7 Dr Swamy said, “I demand that the Prime Minister clear the air by asking the CBI to interrogate these two persons and determine how they came to this conclusion that there is Hindu terror in the country and RSS is connected with it.
“Digvijay Singh and Rahul Gandhi have been frequently making statements that there is the phenomenon of what they call “Hindu terror” and that they have adequate evidence to establish the connection between Hindu terror and the RSS. Since these two persons are general secretaries of the ruling party, hence I demand that the CBI interrogate them to know whether they have evidence beyond what the agency itself has, or if they have been provided this evidence by the CBI itself then that also must be made known to the public. The people of India have a right to know in what capacity and under what law this information was provided to them.
“If neither is true, then it means that these two Congress leaders are trying to dilute the focus of the counter terrorist operation in the country, and causing confounding deliberately the nature of terrorism confronting India. Pakistan which is the sponsor of all major terrorism in India, has already taken advantage of the statements of Digvijay Singh and Rahul Gandhi, and now attributing in world forums that terrorists caused explosions and mass deaths in Pakistan are being done by India. Hence unless the record is immediately set right and transparently to the public of India, the only inference we can draw is that Digvijay Singh and Rahul Gandhi are de facto propagandists of the ISI of Pakistan,” he said in the statement.
