THE time has come for a change; the time to change the corrupt and non-performing government at the Center and the State, said Murlidhar Rao, national secretary of BJP, in Chennai. He was addressing the inaugural function at “Thadagam”, a state level forum of friends of BJP.

Delving deep into the contribution of BJP to the polity of India, he said many things would not have been possible without BJP.

Recently, when former Sarsanghachalak made an inadvertent comment, the entire government establishment and the Congress Party took the streets and vehemently protested against his remarks. But the very same Congress leadership kept mum when Pakistan unleashed violence of unimaginable propositions in Kashmir, and when the Chief Minister of Kashmir raised doubts as to whether Kashmir was an integral part of India, Rao pointed out.

BJP has always protested against these divisive and separatist forces. National integrity and unity was foremost for BJP.

Murlidhar Rao recollected the efforts and sacrifice made by Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerji and hundreds of workers. Resigning from the Nehru cabinet he declared that there was only one country and one Constitution in India. His sacrifices made Kashmir an integral part of India.

The consistent advocacy of nationalism by BJP has changed even the Dravidian parties. During Emergency, BJP was in the front of the movement to restore democracy and install a democratically elected government at the Center. The BJP leader remembered how the nation and the Vajpayee government withstood sanctions after the Pokhran blast. P Chidambaram had stated in Parliament that BJP was a politically irresponsible party and the country will get isolated and cannot withstand sanctions, Rao reminisced. But the BJP had faith in the people of India.

BJP is number two in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. It has good, non-corrupt and performing governments in eight states. It is not a splinter or regional party. It is the only party where democracy is practised. That is why a worker from Maharashtra Nitin Gadkari could become the president of the BJP and leading the party successfully. There was no personality cult and no family rule. In Congress, no one could even dream of becoming the party president except one family. Almost all the parties are governed by one family and its members.

BJP is a growing party with tall figures whose patriotism, decency and performance in Parliament are never questioned. The party has produced a chain of tall leaders.

But we have an unfulfilled task ahead, an incomplete mission – we have to make BJP a mass political party in the South and the East.

Radhakrishnan, state president of BJP, Tamil Nadu presided, Sukumaran Nambiar, NEM, Raja, NEM were present. at the function Kothandaraman IT cell convener welcomed the gathering.
