NATIONAL Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) Ranjan Daimary group killed twenty four Hindi speaking people in different incidents and played holi with their blood on 8.11.2010 and on the following day. The militants of NDFB killed 18 people in seven attacks in the district of Sonitpur, Udalgudi, Baxa and Karbi Anglong, thirty people were seriously injured some of whom are still fighting for survival.

First incident of bloodbath occurred near the State boundary of Assam-Arunachal Pradesh at 5 in the evening in Sonitpur district of Assam on 8.11.2010. The cruel guerrillas stopped the bus carrying twenty-four passengers going from Tezpur (Assam) to Sijusa (Arunachal Pradesh) near Bhoimora and lined all the eight Hindi speaking passengers and gunned down all of them in one go. The militants separated all the ladies and children and then asked their names and home addresses to confirm their identity, took away their mobiles and money and finally shot them in chest and head to ensure their sure death.

On 9.11.2010, NDFB killed three more Hindi speaking people. In Kokrajhar district they killed two Hindi speaking people in two separate attacks, six people were seriously injured. The injured were admitted in Bongaigaon Civil Hospital. Late in the night of 8.11.2010, the terrorists of NDFB gunned down one person in Chirong district. One of the injured persons breathed his last during treatment in Guwahati Medical College Hospital on 9.11.2010. He was injured in the blood-bath in Sonitpur district. A Hindi speaking widow-Smti Kalawa Chauhan was shot dead by NDFB militants in late night on 9.11.2010 in Aamgudi village of Kokrajhar district. Three other people were seriously injured. Thus, twenty four people were killed in serial attacks by NDFB terrorists on 8th and 9th of November 2010.

After killing 8 Hindi speaking people and injuring thirty in seven attacks at different places on the night of 8.11.2010, dialogue opponent NDFB, Ranjan Daimary group threatened that if any action was taken against its cadres, they would cause genocide of Hindi speaking people.

Condemnation and spontaneous Assam bandh
The various Chhath Puja Samitis and all the socio-cultural organisations in upper Assam expressed their shock and condemned the genocide of innocent Hindi speaking people by terrorists and extended full support to 12 hours Assam bandh called by Purvotar Hindusthani Samaj on November 10, 2010. While extending full support to Assam bandh, Hindusthani Navyuvak Samaj Jorhat demanded the complete security of the Hindi speaking people from State government and Central Government.

The condition of Hindi speaking society in Assam
Hindi speaking people are attacked frequently from all directions. Sometimes ULFA (United Liberation Front of Asom) targets them and on the other occasion, the terrorists of NDFB massacre them, one day the militants of Karbi Longri North Cachar Hills Liberation Front (KLNLF) cut them into pieces and the other day, the unruly terrorists of Dima Halom Daoga (DHD) loot their properties and massacre them. The list of genocide and bloodbath of Hindi speaking people hailing mostly from Bihar and UP is quite long whereas they live in complete harmony and total assimilation accompanied with cultural fusion with local Assamese community. The terrorist drama of bloodbath of innocent Hindusthani samaj (Hindi speaking samaj) equally pains the Assamese community but they are helpless and speechless because of the fear of terrorists? guns. Hindusthani Samaj is divided in different groups. There is no apex organisation of them. Because of this, they have neither organisational strength nor any vote bank. They are scattered here and there. These Hindi/Bhojpuri speaking people have been living immediately after Independence, many before Independence. They live mostly in towns and villages. Most of them do manual work, some are engaged in cultivation and some are in small businesses. Most of them somehow manage their two square meals in a day. They are not aware of their political rights and so they do not have a formidable political strength. They do not enjoy bargaining capacity either with government or with any political party. The State Government, therefore, do not care for them. The political leaders and the State Government ignore them. The mass-murder of Hindi speaking people by terrorists and anti-national elements did not create tremor in political circle either. This time also, the State Government is content with issuing condemnation statement and shedding crocodile tears. The innocent victims from Hindi speaking samaj are helpless and totally dependent on the mercy of the Government. The Central Government, too, is complacent on the plight of these people. Union Home Minsiter P Chidambaram landed in Guwahati on November 13, 2010 and issued an statement for military operation. But this ritual statement has not effected the terrorist elements. Imagine if the similar incident had happened with any one of the minority communities, the Central Government and State Government would have taken sky on their heads. The pseudo-secularists and pseudo-human rights activist such as Arundhati Roy and Nanditas Huxer would have suffered a massive heart attack because of shock and anxiety. Since this time the victims belong to Hindu community, they have no concern. But if any terrorist is killed in an encounter with security forces, they jump over in support of terrorists in the name of human rights violation. The political thugs and hippocrates in different political parties sitting on various positions are also unmoved because Hindus don?t constitute a vote-bank.

The reason for targeting Hindi speaking people is that the place vacated by the victims can be used for accommodating Bangladeshis who constitute a sizeable vote-bank. However, a holistic approach is required to restore peace and normalcy so that every member of the society can live in peace and harmony.
