A team of the Bharat Vikas Parishad activists recently visited flood affected areas of Leh. After discussion with the local people, the team also set up the branch of the Parishad and also took steps to construct some rooms in the Egoo School. The activists handedover some school furniture to the school authorities.
Thereafter the activists visited two flood affected villages where seven houses were being constructed by the Parishad. They handedover a cheque for Rs. 2 lakh and relief material including blankets, clothes and solar lights, etc. for the victims. The activists also helped the shopkeepers whose shops were damaged. An assistance ranging from Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 20,000 per shop was also presented to them.
At night, the opening ceremony of the new branch of BVP in Leh was organised. The function was attended by 15 members and some special invitees. (FOC)
