VANBANDHU Parishad celebrated its 21st annual function on September 18 at the GD Birla Auditorium in Kolkata. Addressing the gathering as chief speaker Shri Rameshwarlal Kabra called upon the people to donate 7-8 per cent of their total income for a noble cause. He urged the people to realise their duty to the motherland, society, family and the self. “We should feel ourselves guilty if the living standard of the downtrodden and the Vanvasis is not improved,” he said. In his welcoming speech Shri Dharamchand Agarwal, president of Kolkata unit of Vanbandhu Parishad, pointed out that today there are 35,000 Ekal Vidyalayas run by the Parishad in the country for Vanvasis. And after two years when the Parishad would be celebrating its Silver Jubilee there would be one lakh Ekal Vidyalayas in one lakh village of the country. The audience welcomed the declaration with full enthusiastic clapping. After the short speeches, a play was staged by Shri Monaj Joshi and his team from Mumbai which was very much enjoyable in the rainy evening of Kolkata. Shri Radheshyam Goenka, Shri Mangilal Jain and national chief of the Vanbandhu Parishad Shri Sajjanji Bhajanka were also present on the occasion.
