NATIONAL general secretary of BMS Shri K Lakshma Reddy criticised the anti-labour and anti-poor policies of the UPA government and held them responsible for the unprecedented price rise. He said it is the third hike in petrol, diesel, LPG and kerosene oil prices in a year. Shri Reddy was addressing media persons at BMS office in Kolkata on June 26.

Shri Reddy strongly lambasted upon the Central government for its inhuman policies and said the people who are involved in domestic work throughout the country are in a very miserable condition and nobody is ready to listen to their woes. “Even when the International Labour Organisation (ILO) is going to pass an International Law to protect the rights of such workers, the Government of India opposed such a move. It exposes the real mentality of the government”, he said. Shri Reddy declared to hold demonstrations all over the country and in front of the State Labour Commission office in July in this regard. He also said that the BMS would launch a sustained campaign against the anti-poor policies of the UPA and would force it to correct its policies.

Shri NC De, former State president of West Bengal unit, and State general secretary Shri Dilip Pal announced that the State unit of BMS would hold demonstration in Kolkata in front of State Secretariat on June 29.
