CENTRAL secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishad Shri Mohan Joshi demanded the constitution of a joint inquiry commission comprising of at least three former judges of Supreme Court to investigate into the illegal activities of the church outfits. Talking to mediapersons in Mumbai on May 28, Shri Joshi said there are media reports of atrocities against thousands of children in the hostels, orphanage homes and childrens home run by Christian organisations across the country. The reports also suggest the trafficking of children through such outfits. He said hundreds of children from Manipur, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and other states of North-East were trafficked to Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu and many inhuman atrocities were perpetrated on them. Many leading newspapers like The Time of India and others reported such atrocities. The Supreme Court has also directed the concerned State governments to look into this matter on March 31, 2010. It is a big issue and should not be ignored at all, Shri Joshi said.
He also demanded that the reports of investigation conducted by the governments of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala against the organisations involved in such atrocities and also the trafficking of children should be made public. Condemning the activities of such outfits Shri Joshi demanded immediate stopping of subsidy to these organisations and the Union Home Ministry should also ban the grants coming to them from foreign countries.
