THE central government in connivance with the industrialists, hoarders and profiteers is solely responsible for continuous rise in prices, said BMS general secretary Shri K Lakshma Reddy. He was addressing a mammoth rally with more than 50,000 BMS workers in Bhopal recently. The workers had come from 50 districts of the state to protest against the anti-people policies of the central government and lethargy in implementing the welfare measures and labour laws.
Shri Reddy charged the central government with selling the national assets at throw away prices. He exhorted the workers to take the people at the bottom, the poor, the farmers and the labourers with them and strike at the unholy alliance of the multinational companies, Indian corporate and the government.
Shri Dinkar Rao Joshi, incharge of Madhya Pradesh, hit hard at the union budget which made the life of common man more difficult. Shri Pawan Kumar, BMS secretary, said the government often talks of the welfare of BPL families while it is still to decide what chunk of the population is below the poverty line. It has virtually failed yet to identify the poor.
Shri Ramesh Sharma from Rajya Karmachari Mahasangh demanded allowances at par with the central government employees. Sushri Anusuiya Mishra, state general secretary of Anganwadi Mahasangh urged to be given government employees status to the Anganwadi workers and helpers. A memorandum on the problems of workers was also presented to local authorities for the Prime Minister and Chief Minister.
