Outsmarting and outbeating jehadi crimes by ‘Quotation Gangs’ of Crime Syndicates patronised by the CPM have become the gravest threat, Kerala is facing today. Earlier disorganised and loose goondas were used by the powerful liquor lobby for transporting spirit and illicit liquor to various parts of the State. Now organised gangs, with political links have taken over. Now the goondas have post graduated into various crime syndicates and quotation gangs headed by leading gang leaders with network all over the State. These quotation gangs (similar to Supari killers of Mumbai / UP) act at the behest of various mafias operating in the State like sex, liquor, sand, sandalwood and the latest land and kill at will. The CPM-police-mafia – quotation gang axis is a new comer and serious threat to literate Kerala.
Kerala with one per cent land area and 3.5 per cent of India’s population is a land scarce State. With almost 40 lakh Keralites in the Gulf pumping in heavy Gulf money, the demand for land is skyrocketing. With heavy push in the construction sector, where all the major builders and flat promoters of India, have landed in Kerala, especially strategic Kochi, land is scarcer than diamonds and platinum.
The culture to involve quotation gangs to usurp land from unwilling landowners started from Kochi, which is in for major developments like container terminal, metro railway and IT parks etc. and has spread though the State.
‘CPM Corporate’ which has assets worth Rs 10,000 crore ranging from resorts, star hotels and amusement parks has entered into the real estate and flat building arena in a big way. Pinarayi Vijayan, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan (Home Minister) and his son Bineesh are into real estate benami business in a big way. They are shadow partners in several villas, flats and resorts building projects. CPM quotation gangs provide logistic supports to these projects for taking over lands, murdering unwilling sellers.
On August 21, Paul M George (30) Director of Muthoot Group who had varied interests in banks, financing institutions, hotels, resorts, hospitals, educational institutions and a member of one of the wealthiest Christian families in Kerala, was murdered by goons on the Alapuzha-Changanassery Road.
Police investigations revealed that he was travelling with Omprakash and Rajesh, the two well-known goonda leaders of Kerala and he has carrying heavy cash running into crores for settling a land deal for building a resort. Both Omprakash and Rajesh were known DYFI/SFI activists who have graduated into quotation gang leaders and are close to Pinarayi – Kodiyeri – Bineesh axis.
The Police led by IG Vinson M Paul did a cover-up operation to save its Minister by arresting a Changanassery based quotation gang and later Kari Satheesh, who is said to have admitted of the murder.
But media and the Kerala society were clear that it was a cover-up to save CPM and reports rubbishing the Police/CPM cover-up appeared in major newspapers. Satheesh’s mother and grandmother said the murder weapon was brought by the police and they forcibly arrested Satheesh. Media reports also came that Bineesh promised Rs.15 lakh to Satheesh to own up the murder.
Addressing a Press conference, Pinarayi Vijayan said that the RSS was behind the murder and that Kari Satheesh was a RSS Swayamsevak. Immediately RSS Sahkaryavah Gopalan Kutty denied the accusation and BJP leader Radhakrishna Memon produced documentary evidence of Satheesh’s DYFI membership and his mother’s CPM membership. Kodiyeri denied neither he nor his son have real estate business.
But investigations by major news papers and BJP point to the contrary. Bineesh Kodiyeri and Paul M George were partners in several real estate holdings and resorts. While Paul identifies the land, Bineesh uses CPM muscle power and quotation gangs to intimidate and if necessary finish of unwilling sellers. Media reports point to a dispute between Paul M George and Bineesh over a certain resort and the likely hand of Omprakash/Rajesh who were with Paul in the Ford Endeavour, in the murder. Also, Omprakash and Rajesh who were with Paul to give security to the several crores he was carrying with him for settling a land deal, decamped with the heavy cash.
BJYM state President K Surendran who has become a nightmare for the CPM for his investigative exposure on Pinarayi – Kodiyeri – Bineesh axis murky deals, squarely points to Bineesh hand in Paul murder and Kodiyeri bid to save him. He says Omprakash and Rajesh are SFI/DYFI cadres and they studied with Bineesh in University College, Thiruvananthapuram. Bineesh used Omprakash to settle scores. “Omprakash, Rajesh and Bineesh have major stakes in real estate and businesses in the Gulf. Despite listed as a Goonda, Bineesh arranged for passports for these two and they frequented Gulf going through Kerala Police emigration. Madathil Raghu, who is Bineesh’s Gulf benami, assaulted CISF in Thiruvananthapuram in a drunken state and he was coolly let off after Bineesh’s intervention. Several of the known goondas and interpol wanted terrorists attended Bineesh’s brother’s marriage a year back, which was a multi crore affair. Bineesh has also big stake in the trans-shipment of drugs coming to Kochi”, says Surendran.
Surendran further said “We have solid judicial evidence of Bineesh trying to buy 1,000 acres of land in Kannur immediately after CPM came to power in 2006. He has purchased 100 acres in Aroor – Kochi stretch. In the uninhabited islets around Kochi, he has purchased the Kadamudy islands. We suspect his hand in the Paul murder. His last call from his mobile 9495392929 was to Omprakash and for next two days this number was switched off. Now his new mobile no is 9446090000. Why did he change his number after the Paul murder? The Police should collect the entire call details of his earlier number and book him for murder of Paul.”
Omprakash and Rajesh are suspected of being in Dubai, by the media. Well protected by Bineesh’s benami, Madathil Reghu. If the going gets hot for Bineesh Kodiyeri, they may even be finished off in Dubai.
Bineesh and Health Minister PK Sreemathi’s son’s name cropped up in the murder of a sex scandal victim and a multi-crore fraud by a financing agency. Both the cases were hushed up. The CPM took crore from Farris Aboobacker who was involved in a kidney racket in Singapore. Two crore were taken for party paper Desabhimani from lottery mafia Sandiago Martin.
The BJP has called for a central probe into the Paul murder case and a thorough investigation into the role of Pinarayi-Kodiyeri axis in the growing crime syndicates in Kerala. The Congress attitude towards real-estate crime syndicates are not strong. Since Bineesh has recently married Karunakaran’s relative and Oommen Chandy, Opposition leader is related to Muthoot family by marriage, they want to hush up the case. Moreover Karunakaran’s daughter Padmaja is linked to Bineesh-Madathil Raghu in several real estate and business deals in Gulf.
The CPM ploy to implicate RSS in the murder of Paul M George thereby creating Hindu-Christian friction and allowing Bineesh to escape fell like a palace of cards. Moreover RSS is the only force in Kerala standing up to the CPM – Goonda-quotation gang axis. Anyway troubled days are ahead for anybody who owns land in Kerala. They CPM under EMS, which enacted Land Reforms Act in the fifties to give land to poor is now usurping poor man’s land by goon power. EMS will be cursing the new generation hi-tech commies from his grave! ‘Lal Salaam is now Land Salaam!’
