Report CPM feud pushing Kerala to anarchy

Finally the ‘Communist Jagadguru!’ of Politburo (PB), Prakash Karat, has succumbed to another PB—“Pinarayi Blackmail’. After months of faction feuds, discussions, and several rounds of State committee, Central Committee and Politburo meets, the CPM has decided, on July 12, to throw out Chief Minister VS Atchudanandan from the Politburo for violating organisational principles and discipline. But his bete noire CPM Kerala Secretary, Pinarayi Vijayan who is facing CBI probe in the Rs.337 crore SNC-Lavlin scam has been left scot-free. The CPM which posed as a crusader against corruption, stands exposed, naked. It has whitewashed the massive corruption in Kerala’s history by backing Pinarayi to the hilt and humiliating VS, who took a tough stand against corruption. The CPM’s voice against corruption is a sham and has now to be taken with a ‘Sack of Salt’ with the party, justifying and corporatising corruption. The CPM is ‘CPM Corporate’ in Kerala with assets ranging Rs. 10,000 crore including flat complexes, star hotels and amusement parks, etc.

Although the Politburo voted 8-7 against throwing out VS, Prakash Karat and Pinarayi Vijayan ganged up in the Central Committee to throw out VS from the Politburo. The Bengal unit and Yechury were opposed to withdrawal of support to UPA on the nuclear deal issue and were trying for a post-poll tie up with Congress. Even now Yechury, Buddhadev and Manik Sarkar opposed action against VS but the Pinarayi-PK gang up, had their way. A badly mauled West Bengal unit had lost its clout in the PB and Central committee. There has been strong opposition to Karat’s style of functioning and moves are brewing to replace him. Karat is banking on Pinarayi’s support to continue in his seat! It is a classic example of ‘You scratch my back, I will scratch your back.’

The Politburo and Central committee’s decision to throw out VS has sent shock waves down the party in Kerala. Mass demonstrations, against the decision, by pro-VS CPM activists, were witnessed throughout the State. In many places they were attacked by pro-Pinarayi CPM goondas. There has been increased demands from various quarters asking VS to quit, saying he has no place in a ‘Corrupted to the rock bottom’ CPM. CPM throw outs like Appukkuttan Vallikunnu, VB Cherian, MR Murali and Onchiyam dissidents have asked VS to quite and form a new CPM. Even left co-traveller Justice VR Krishna Iyer has described CPM as power hungry, personality culted and suicidally fractured outfit.

The State is suffering due to the factional fight in the ruling CPM. Anarchic conditions are prevailing in the State. Gang wars between goons of real estate, liquor, illicit financing, sex and drugs mafias are a daily affair. Goons of rival gangs, both with nexus to CPM, are butchered in broad daylight in front of police stations and DGP’s office. With the police becoming ineffective and tied up, the common man’s life is miserable.

There has been 1,400 attacks on police stations in the last three years, by CPM goons. Last week, the Peroorkada Police Station in the capital was attacked and sub-inspector Arun Kumar stabbed because he arrested a DYFI criminal. Bindu, a woman constable was attacked, molested and her nameplate plucked away! She is in hospital with hand fractured. In Viyyur, the SI Sajin Sasi and constables were attacked when they arrested SFI students, who in inebriated state, were attacking road travellers.

The CPM jehadi tie-up has made the State a soft-target of Islamic terrorism. The CPM-Madhani tie-up has watered down the police probe on Kozhikode bus-station blasts, Beypore blasts, export of terror to Kashmir and Tamil Nadu bus burning cases, etc. Despite Omar Madhani confessing of recruiting Islamic youth from Kerala for jehad in Kashmir, Madhani and his wife Sufiya, who were directly involved in it, are being left scot-free. Now belligerent jehadis have blasted an IED—Pipe Bomb with detonator and timer at the Kochi collectorate on July 10. Ammonium Nitrate which was used in Bengaluru, Jaipur, Gujarat, Mumbai and Delhi blasts were used in the IED. Despite clinching evidences, Police is prevented from taking on Madhani and NDF jehadi militants.

The State is reeling under threat of jehadi terrorism, failed monsoon, power cuts, water shortage, contagious diseases, roof top prices, butchering private professionals colleges and goonda menace, but unmindful of all these the CPM leaders shuttle between Delhi and Thiruvanantha-puram for Politburo and Central committee meets to settle their never ending feuds. Crores are being spent on air travel with no benefit to the common man.

Now that the main issue before CPM is VS-Pinarayi war, let a branch of the Politburo and Central commitee be started in Kerala, so that the State exchequer can save crores on air travel. For decades the capital city has been agitating for a ‘Bench’ of the High Court of Kerala. Let, CPM at least provide us a ‘Bench’ of the Politburo and Central commitee in Thiruvananthapuram!
