Karnataka unit of Sanskar Bharati organised Ugadi celebration at Central Jail in Bengaluru. Swami Tyageshwarananda of Ramakrishna Mutt presided over the function. He distributed 600 sarees to female inmates and more than 5000 laddus to the jail inmates.
The programme began with singing of a patriotic song ? ?idhu yenu samskruti idhu yenu sbhyathe? – from an old Kannada film. Swami Tyageshwarananda stressed the need to develop will power. Then Shri Sulebele Chakravarti took over the centre stage, along with his troupe named ?Jago Bharat?. Instantaneously establishing rapport with the inmates he started in his characteristic style narrating the history of the freedom struggle beginning from attacks by Greeks up to that British. Shri Chakravarti is also regional organising secretary of Sanskar Bharati. He narrated how the country had to face attacks from outside and how even after all those attacks we still are able to hold our flag aloft.
