Speaking at mammoth rallies at Sambalpur and Rourkela, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said that a determined leader and strong and decisive BJP government at the centre is the need of the hour to protect the security of the nation and ensure an all-round development. Coming down heavily upon the UPA government for its indifference on the security of the nation, Modi said, in no uncertain terms, that the security of the nation is at stake due to twin dangers, Taliban and insurgency, staring into our eyes. Lest the body fabric of the country lies in shambles, the people of the country have to take a decisive step to bring a strong BJP government as the custodian of the nation.

He said: The Taliban, who are in Pakistan, have almost descended on us, at the doorstep of Hindustan. The Pakistan'sInter-Services Intelligence agency, seen very active in Nepal and Bangladesh, is posing serious threats to the security of the country. Nepal has become a safe haven for ISI. These are recipe for disasters in times to come. It is all the handiwork of UPA government who bartered even the security of the nation for vote-bank politics.

The UPA government is answerable to the nation as to what action it has taken to stop the 30 Taliban, who have infiltrated into our country. The government is not a news agency to inform people that disasters have crossed the borders. People look forward to the government who would save it from the impending danger and instil hope in the countrymen, not announce dooms. The Manmohan Singh government, he alleged, has remained a mute spectator to the growing terrorism.

Shri Modi said the UPA government, instead of signing the nuclear deal, should have explored the uranium deposits in Orissa. He assured an all-round development of the state. He said: If voted to power, the BJP government would change the economy of the state.

Modi explained the development of his own state and assured the people of economic prosperity even when the world is reeling under recession.

Criticising Naveen Patnaik for deceiving BJP, Shri Modi said he has betrayed the faith of people as the BJP had given full support to the alliance government for two terms. He appealed to the people of Orissa to give a befitting reply to BJD. Betrayers have been punished in Gujarat and Karnataka and the same thing will happen in Orissa. ?In Gujarat and Karnataka, people have voted out betrayers by giving massive support to BJP. Now it is the turn of BJD for joining hands with the Left and the Congress,? Modi stated.

Criticising the Congress for its vote-bank politics, Modi said the country'sdevelopment is impossible till the existence of vote bank politics. With vote-bank politics, neither can we ensure the country'ssecurity nor can we think about the development of the country, he said. Highlighting the lapses in the UPA government'spolicy on the country'ssecurity, Modi said, the centre has failed to check terrorism because of the vote-bank politics. ?Instead of deputing a Cabinet minister to Washington soon after Mumbai terror attack, the government should have answered Pakistan in the same tone,? he said. ?BJP is the only party that can provide security to the country and ensure development of the common man,? Modi said.

Modi also strongly criticised the so-called Third Front, which has basically disintegrated. The UPA is Ulta, Pulta Association, whereas the Third Front has no head and no tail. Everyday the Third Front is born in the morning and dies in the evening.
