All China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) organised the meeting of ?International Forum on Economic Globalisation and Trade Unions? in Beijing from February 12 to 13. Representatives from five central trade union organisations from India were invited in the meeting. Shri K Lakshma Reddy, national general secretary of BMS, represented Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh in the meeting. Besides Chinese delegates, there were altogether 50 delegates from 25 countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America.

In this context a seminar on ?Scientific Development, Decent Work and Harmonious Society? was organised. Speaking at the seminar Shri Reddy said unless and until the present disparities are addressed by all the countries, the concepts of Harmonious Society and Decent Work would be just utopian concepts that can'tbe translated into the realities of life for the common man. ?To make the rules favourable to the poor countries and to reduce the disparities, it is imperative that the voice of the poor countries must be made powerful. This is possible only if the drafting of the rules and regulations take into consideration the aspirations of the member countries on the basis of their population.
