Tribute to Jagdish Arya

Noted Hindi poet, Jagdish Arya, passed away in New Delhi on January 13. He was 79. He is survived by his wife, two sons and four daughters. He belongs to the family of Mahatma Amichand who was initiated into Arya Samaj by Swami Dayananda Saraswati himself. As per his wishes his son Pravin Arya, national secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Sahitya Parishad, donated his body to Dadhichi Dehdan Samiti, which gave it to All India Institute of Medical Sciences. Both his eyes and kidneys were successfully transplanted to other people. He authored five books also.

Scores of writers, poets and leaders belonging to social organisation of Delhi paid him tribute. A song composed by Jagdish Arya?bulbulon gar tumhara chaman lut gaya, chahchahane bataon kidhar jaoge?had become very popular during the nineties and is still sung at various functions. Prominent among those who paid him tribute included Delhi BJP chief Prof. Omprakash Kohli, Congress MP Sandip Dikshit, Education Minister of Delhi Shri Arvinder Singh Lovely, former MPs Shri Lal Bihari Tewari and Shri Prem Singh ?Sher?, Dr Swami Shyamanand Saraswati, MCD Councillor Dr VK Monga, Shri Rajgopal Singh, Jaisingh Arya, Kunwar Baichen, Shri Rajendra Raja, Shri Manoharlal Ratnam, Shri Dushyant Singh Chaturvedi, Dr Saraswat Mohan Manishi, Dr Ramsharan Gaur, Dr Devendra Arya and Dr Kirti Kale etc.
