Representatives of various organisations including Rashtra Sevika Samiti, Bharat Vikas Parishad and Rashtravadi Muslim Andolan presented a memorandum to the National Commission for Women and demanded to act curb the growing violence against women. The memorandum is basically based on the resolution adopted at a two-day seminar organised in Delhi on February 16 and 17. The memorandum also questioned the role of media in this regard and said the media sensationalise the incidents unnecessarily. The memorandum said the incidents of violence and atrocities have been growing against even the foreign tourists. ?It is very painful that the media has been sensationalising such incidents. Instead of protecting the victims the people present on the spots click their photos and make films through their mobile phones and publicise them. The police too remain mute spectator, which is highly condemnable,? the memorandum said. The delegates demanded the Commission to take concrete steps to curb the violence against women.
