At the peak time of Gujjar agitation and clashes between Gujjars and Meenas over the issue of reservation under Scheduled Tribe category, every political party tried its best to exploit the situation in its favour even at the cost of dividing the society on caste lines.

But it was the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, which, in its own way of working, quietly organised samarasta sammlenas, to bring the two warring communities on one platform. Its Dharma Jagaran Samanvaya Vibhag, amidst the Gujjar agitation, held an enlarged meeting of the leaders of both the communities in Jaipur.

These leaders pledged that, instead of fighting with each other, they would do their best to bring samarasta not only between Gujjars and Meens but also in other communities of Hindu Parivar. After this state-level meeting the RSS organised such samarasta sammelans at most of the districts of the state.

Since RSS and its leadership is publicity shy, the work carried by its swayamsevaks, under various banners, went largely unnoticed in the media, both print and electronic. But this did not desist RSS from continuing its work to bring harmony in the society. On February 13, Dharma Jagaran Samanvay Vibhag organised a unique meeting of leaders of over two dozen communities in the state capital. It was a scene to be watched, when these leaders resolved said that they would work to bring unity in the Hindu Samaj and that they simply would not think of only their community but would see Hindu Samaj as one.

Shri Mukund Rao Pansikar, Akhil Bharatiya Pramukh of Samanvay Vibhag said that invading Muslim rulers of India left no stone unturned to forcibly convert Hindus to Islam. They made certain laws, under which conversion from Islam to other religion was made crime. The British rulers were more clever. Instead of resorting to forcible conversion of Hindus to Christianity, they adopted a strategy to spread a Christianity by luring and bribing the poor Hindus. The missionaries are following the same strategy. The result is number of Christian in the country has become double since the independence. Majority of them are new converts.

He said that though government is preaching family planning to all the communities, it is only Hindus, who are adopting the family planning. Whereas Muslims, more than Christians, have refused to accept the family planning. Shri Pansikar said that at the time of independence the population of Muslims in the country was only three per cent. But today Muslims constitute little over 13 per cent. This was because they are determined to increase their number.

Under the Constitution, if any member of SCs or STs of Hindu religion changes his or her religion, he/she would forfeit his/her right of reservation. This was simply because, in Islam and Christianity, there is nothing like SCs or STs as religious leaders of these communities claim that all the Muslims and Christian have only one identity and there was one class or community among them.

Shri Pansikar said that unfortunately, Congress party, which is following the policy of appeasement of Muslims and Christians, primarily to get their votes, made amendments in the law, under which even after the conversion, the members of SCs and STs would continue to get the benefits of reservation.

He said this helped, particularly Christian missionaries, who are targeting tribal for converting them to Christianity. They tell the prospective converts that even after conversion, they would continue to get all the benefits of SCs and STs. Shri Ram Prasad, Kshetriya Pramukh, said that the Hindu population of the country is increasing at a rate of only 5.2 per cent, whereas the population of Muslims is increasing at a staggering rate of 36.3 per cent. If the increase in Muslim population continues at the same rate, by 2060, they would constitute about 50 per cent of the total population of the country.

He said that majority of the Muslims in India are converts and conversion of them was done forcibly. The history says, Mew Muslims are converts from Meenas. The RSS and its various wings are persuading such converts to come back to their roots. It is succeeding in its aim, but in a very limited way.
