THE All India Working Committee of Shri Ram Sethu Raksha Manch has decided to stage a massive demonstration in Delhi on December 30 for Ram Sethu. There are efforts to gather more people in Delhi than assembled on April 4, 1991 for Shri Ramjanmabhoomi temple. Preparations for the demonstration have begun all over the country and workers have been entrusted different kinds of responsibilities to make the event a great success.
A conference of Madathipathis, Dharmacharyas and religious scholars of south India under the auspices of Rameswaram Ram Sethu Protection Movement was held in Chennai on November 17. A total of 92 sadhus and religious thinkers participated in the meeting. The conference called to launch a ?Delhi Chalo? campaign to bring more than 15 lakh people to the national capital to strengthen the campaign. A massive agitation reminiscent of Ram Mandir campaign will be launched across the country from November 20 to protect Ramar Sethu, said Dr Pravin Togadia, general secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Chennai. ?The agitation, to be spread over a month, will be peaceful, but an aggressive democratic campaign covering more than 4 lakh villages is on the cards. A Shila Yatra carrying the floating stone, which was used to build Ramar Sethu, will be organised and prayers will be offered to it at 1,500 places across the country. It also covers places associated with Ram.? Dr Togadia said every village would be turned into an Ayodhya, where people would spearhead a campaign, if the Union Government failed to publicly declare that they would not destroy Ramar Sethu. People would be encouraged to enroll in a dharmayudha during the one-month yatra, which would start on November 20 and the target was one million people, he said.
A meeting of more than 500 prominent workers was held in Delhi also on November 14 to make the event a great success. Workers belonging to more than 20 organisations of Delhi were guided by VHP general secretary Dr Pravin Togadia, Akhil Bharatiya Bauddhik Pramukh of RSS Shri Madhubhai Kulkarni, Kshetra Pracharak Shri Dinesh Chandra, Delhi Prant Sanghachalak Shri Ramesh Prakash, Mahant Naval Kishore Das and central secretary of VHP Shri Champatrai.
