To protest against acute shortage of electricity and water in Gurgaon, Haryana, the BJP conducted a six-km-long padyatra there recently. The padyatra was led by the BJP national secretary and former union minister Shri Vijay Goel. This padyatra started from Gaushala Maidan and passed through Favvara Chowk, Old Delhi Road and various other areas of Gurgaon. Thousands of people and BJP workers along with the Haryana BJP president Shri Atmaprakash Manchanda, former MP, Smt Sudha Yadav, and BJP general secretary Capt. Abhimanyu, were also present in the padyatra.

Shri Goel said that the situation of electricity and water supply has gone from bad to worse in the entire Haryana as electricity is not being supplied in cities and to farmers for days together. The electricity supply is cut for eight to nine hours even in the Gurgaon area, which is getting 30 per cent less electricity. Shri Goel further said that these types of padyatras against the state government will be launched in the entire state of Haryana against electricity and water problems. On one hand, Gurgaon is being described as a world city and large MNCs have opened their offices there, on the other hand, electricity is not being made available even in the night so that children can sleep peacefully.

During the padyatra, the demonstrators were holding placards and banners against the state government. Shri Goel also stated that the Hooda government has lost its moral right to rule over the state, as the government has completely failed in providing the basic amenities like supply of electricity, water and the state is witnessing lawlessness and price-rise. The state government is only focusing on the power players of the state and is not bothered about the common man.  (FOC)
