The 12th death anniversary of K.G. Marar, Sangh Pracharak and legendary Jan Sangh/BJP leader, was observed at ?Mararji Mandiram? BJP state office in Thiruvanantha-puram on April 25. Thousands including BJP leader Shri O. Rajagopal and state president P.K. Krishnadas offered floral tributes.
Delivering his speech P.K. Krishnadas said that despite Mararji not being an MLA or MP or minister, lakhs including communists loved and respected him, since he lived in the heart of Kerala'speople. He continued that all issues raised by Mararji, be it minority appeasement, corruption in Electricity Boards or issues concerning management of temples are still relevant. He concluded that when Mararji was consigned to flames at Kannur Payyambalam beach, his funeral procession can be compared to only that of former Chief Minister E.K. Nayanar'slast journey, where lakhs participated. Such was the personality of Mararji.
Shri O. Rajagopal said that Mararji was son of a poor temple employee and died with no material property on earth. He said politicians should emulate Mararji as he practised what he preached. He called upon the people to live with difference of opinion in a democratic set-up. (FOC)
