National conference of NOBW

The 15th national conference of National Organisation of Bank Workers (NOBW), a federation of bank workers affiliated with the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, was held in Bhopal. Over 1,000 delegates from different banks of the country participated in the conference. The conference was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Shri Udayrao Patwardhan, general secretary of BMS, addressed the inaugural session and Shri Girish Awasthi, national president of BMS, addressed the concluding ceremony. Shri Hasubhai Dave, incharge of the financial sector of BMS, and Shri Bapurao Joshi, general secretary of NOBW, also addressed the delegates.

In a resolution the conference demanded the removal of ban on recruitments in banks, restoration of compassionate ground appointments, reduction of rate of interest on staff loans, absorption of part-time employees in full time, implementation of pension settlement dated 29.10.1993 in RRBs and formation of National Rural Bank of India.

The new office-bearers of the NOBW elected at the conference are Shri Dinesh Kulkarni (Pune), president, Shri Ashwani Rana (Delhi), general secretary, Shri Ramnath Kini (Mumbai), dy. general secretary, Shri Mohan Kumtakar (Bangalore), organising secretary and Shri R.D. Telang (Nagpur), treasurer, for the next three years.  (FOC)
