Rajnath Singh reelected BJP President

Shri Rajnath Singh was unanimously elected National President of BJP for the full three-year term. Declaring his election as National President, All India Returning Officer O.P. Kohli said that in all 15 nomination papers were received proposing Shri Rajnath Singh'sname.

One nomination paper was presented by Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee on behalf of Shri Lal Krishna Advani, Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, Shri Jaswant Singh, Smt. Sushma Swaraj, Shri Vijay Kumar Malhotra, Shri Kalyan Singh, Shri S.S. Ahluwalia, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Shri B.C. Khanduri, Shri Anant Kumar, Shri Kalraj Mishra, Shri M.A. Naqvi, Shri Thavarchand Gahlot, Shri Vinay Katiyar, Shri Arun Jaitley, Shri K. Janakrishnamurthi and other Members of Parliament, elected as National Council Members by the BJP Parliamentary Party. Besides this, nomination papers proposing Shri Rajnath Singh'sname were received from the following 14 states : Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Dadar-Nagar Haveli.

As all the nomination papers were found valid, Shri O.P. Kohli declared Shri Rajnath Singh elected as National President.
