Sri Sri Ravi Shankar blesses seminar on Shri Guruji centenary Shri Guruji's impact on Indian life

To celebrate the birth-centenary year of Shri Madhavrao Sadashivrao Golwalkar?second Sarsanghachalak of RSS, a unique seminar was organised at the Sathya Sai Auditorium, New Delhi, on October 12, 2006, by Bharatiya Vitta Salahakar Samiti (BVSS).

This seminar was addressed by the spiritual guru with a golden heart and divine soul, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who is the founder of the Art of Living Foundation.

The entry was strictly by invitation. The seminar began with a movie on the glorious history, aim and activities of RSS. The Guests of Honour for the function, Shri Jagmohan, (former Cabinet minister) and Shri S. Gurumurthy, (eminent economist) along with Shri Balbir Punj and the office-bearers of BVSS lighted the lamp. Shri Gurumurthy had specially arrived from Chennai to deliver a lecture on the life of Shri M.S. Golwalkar popularly known as Shri Guruji. The audience sang together Vande Mataram.

After the introduction of the guests, they were given a flower bouquet and a shawl and Shri Subhash Aggarwal, President of the Delhi unit BVSS, gave his welcome address. Then Shri Anil Gupta, All India Organising Secretary of BVSS, in his brief speech apprised the distinguished gathering with the aims and objectives of the organisation and introduced the team of BVSS, namely Shri Ashok Gadia, general secretary, Shri Mahesh Babu Gupta, Shri Pramod Narula, Shri Anil Sharma, Shri Praveen Kant, Shri Neeraj Gupta, Shri Yatinder Khemka, Shri B.K. Sabharwal and Shri Gopal K. Agarwal. He also enlightened the august audience about the activities of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Then Shri Gurumurthi was invited to speak on the life of Shri Guruji. His beautifully worded and intellectual speech on the life and times of Shri Guruji had a profound impact on the audience, who were enthralled to know about the great contribution made by this divine soul in bringing RSS activities to the forefront of nation-building process. His speech along with the initial documentary film on seva activities of RSS had a long-lasting impact on the minds of those present in the auditorium.

During the recitation of devotional songs by the renowned singer Smt. Chitra and her companion artistes, the arrival of His Holiness was marked by swasti vachan by priests. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was accompanied by Shri Mahesh Gupta, and Dr. J.P Gupta. The whole auditorium was echoing with the holy mantras and the office-bearers of BVSS welcomed His Holiness showering flower petals.

His Holiness first paid his tribute to Shri Guruji by showering flower petals on his portrait and greeted the distinguished gathering who extended a standing ovation. Shri Gopal Agarwal briefly introduced His Holiness and threw light on his activities. BVSS felicitated His Holiness by offering a flower bouquet and a shawl. All the sponsors namely Subhashji and Maheshji from SMC, Shri Ashok Gadia and Ashok Singhal from Mewar Institute, Gopal K. Agarwal from Voguestock, Shri Gaurav Arora from Jaypee Capital, Shri Ajay Gupta and Atul Gupta from Adroit, Shri Shiv Kumar Goel from Bonanza and Shri Kuldeepak Gupta from Gopio were felicitated by giving mementos by His Holiness. Then the guest of honours, Smt Bhanu Didi, Croatian ambassador Shri Dino and his wife and some other prominent dignitaries were duly felicitated and their names were prominently mentioned.

BVSS is a society formed with the objective of lending a voice and providing a platform to the professionals engaged in the field of finance and taxation, including CAs, CS, stockbrokers, MBAs, etc.

The topic of the seminar was: Spiritual Quotient in Business Management

Shri Jitender ji was invited to pay homage to Shri M.S. Golwalkar by reciting a beautiful poem as a tribute to his dedicated life. Smt Chitra again enthralled the audience by her sweet voice. Finally Gopal Agarwal briefly touched upon the motivation for RSS activities and today'stopic, i.e. the relevance of spiritualism in day-to-day business environment, and invited His Holiness to give his talk.

At the very onset, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar invited the public for meditation. Post-meditation a lively interactive session of questions and answers took place. Audience asked questions on wide-ranging subjects, including nationalism, corruption, spirituality and art of living. The question-answer session continued for about thirty-five minutes.

At the end, the vote of thanks was given by Shri Praveen Kant, general secretary of Delhi unit of BVSS. A memento was also presented to His Holiness, thanking him for his valuable teachings.

The programme was organised by the coordination committee, whose convener was Gopal K. Agarwal and other members were, Shri Anil Gupta, Shri Praveen Kant, Shri Subhash Agarwal, Shri Ashok Gadia, along with the conveners of various other committees comprising of funds committee?B.K. In a jam-packed auditorium with more than 700 persons, all the bigwigs and who'swho of finance profession were present, including former presidents, central and regional council members of the institute, prominent members from the Association of NSE members of India, commodity participants association and depository participant association, leading chartered accountants, company secretaries, cost accountants and senior corporate and bank executives. The programme was well appreciated by all of them.

It will not be out of place to mention that the seminar received best wishes for its success from some important dignitaries like His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia (Deputy Chairman Planning Commission), Dr Y.V. Reddy (Governor, RBI), Dr C. Rangarajan, Shri Rahul Bajaj and Shri K.S. Sudarshan (Sarsanghachalak, RSS). The seminar was conducted by Shri Gopal K. Agarwal, central committee member of BVSS.
