The Karyakari Mandal of Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, which met in Agra on September 8, has demanded the constitution of a competent agency by the government to prevent the exploitation of Vanvasi women who come to cities from Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, the north-east and other states for domestic work. The Karyakari Mandal said due to lack of a proper agency the Vanvasi women are exploited economically and physically in the cities. ?The Karyakari Mandal is very much concerned over this problem and it has started work in this regard,? a resolution said. The Mandal also stressed the need to accelerate the work against malnutrition and growing mortality rate among children in the Vanvasi areas. The meeting said the process of development is being affected due to the activities of infiltration, terrorism and Naxalism. The meeting was presided over by Kalyan Ashram president Shri Jagdevram Oraon.

The meeting has decided to organise national archery competition at Poornia (Bihar) from December 25 to 27 to promote archery among Vanvasis. Vanvasi archers from across the country will participate in the competition. The training camp for the Kalyan Ashram activists working in Prant Karyalayas will be held in Kolkata from November 4 to 6. The convention of Vanvasi boys and girls from the north-east will be organised from December 24 to 28 under the banner of North-East Tribal Cultural Protection Forum. The training camp for Hit Raksha Pramukhs will be held in Ranchi from December 1 to 3. A Jal Sansad will be organised in Indore on water management from November 27 to 29.
