Reacting strongly to the statement made by Syed Ahemd Bukhari, leader of a new Islamic Party, and some other Muslim leaders not to sing Vande Matram on September 7, the centenary year celebration day of the national song, Shri Ashok Singhal, president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), said refusing to sing the national song is an anti-constitutional act. He appealed to the government to take a stern action against all those who oppose the national song. He termed the statement by Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh, saying that singing of Vande Mataram is not mandatory, as anti-national. He said the UPA government is supporting the anti-national elements and terrorists in the country and is completely a pro-Muslim government.
Shri Singhal said the Muslim leaders should clearly understand that Bharat Mata is our mother and only then we, as her children, are brothers. About the slogan?Bharat mein yadi rehna hoga, Vande Matarm kehna hoga?he said it is not just a slogan, but it is our pledge for national integration and unity. ?The statement of Muslim Personal Law Board leaders that they will not bow to Bharat Mata is an affront to our Constitution. They should remember that not a single Muslim could win the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections a few years ago when they had opposed the Ramjanmabhoomi. This is the same Vande Matarm song that had given a befitting reply to the ill-conceived effort of the Britishers to divide Bengal and had spearheaded the Bang-bhang movement one hundred years ago. It appears to be a part of the worldwide conspiracy of Muslim terrorism aimed at spreading terror everywhere,? he said in a statement issued in New Delhi on August 29.
Shri Singhal appealed to youth of the country and specially the activists of Bajrang Dal to persuade the students in schools and colleges to sing Vande Mataram on September 7. They should also take a pledge not to rest till Bharat Mata is fully integrated with Bangladesh and Pakistan as her parts. ?We should understand that India is our mother who has reared and nourished us and we owe a solemn duty towards her. Let one and all sing Vande Mataram, only then will the centenary celebration be successful,? he added.
The VHP president said all Muslims of India were once Hindu and most of them still know when their ancestors adopted Islam and in what circumstances. Bharat Mata binds all of us in one thread. If they want to break it, then they should decide in which country they wish to live. (FOC)
