Why not a channel devoted to Hinduism?

The famous Balaji TTDs Trust Board Meeting held at Tirumala on May 5, 2006, has taken a decision to offer financial assistance of Rs. 2 crore to Sri Seetha Rama Temple, Badrachalam and financing a television serial on Lord Balaji.

If indeed the Board is in the service of the Lord with true devotion why not start a television channel of its own? It is incredible how TV influences society. Many conversations center on TV programmes shown the day before even newspapers follow television programmes. TV is truly powerful in its effect on us all.

Radio and TV evangelism became a new tool when local broadcasting licences were more easily obtained. While every religion make effective use of media we still lack in promoting Indian heritage and Hinduism.

Hindus form the vast majority of India'sbillion-plus population. Who on earth can match resources if an initiative is taken if not the TTD ?

GOD TV, the Jerusalem-based Christian channel that set up office in Chennai two years ago generated most of its revenue through donations and is promoted through churches engaged in furious proselytisation.

While one is appalled by at the kind of stuff the clerics speak on Quran TV, with due respect, I have to say that religious leaders are using these channels to voice their narrow perspectives on religion to misguide the youth and increase their ranks. Since India has no official religon yet, we are always at the receiving end. There is a strong need to fill the void to counter the vicious propoganda against Hinduism.
