Bilagi taluka of Bagalkot district in Karnataka is considered to be one of the most backward areas in the state. Shri C.N. Soragavi, a man with foresight, who is the director of the local Jum sugar factory, has emerged as the beacon of hope for the people of this taluka. He has been working tirelessly for all-round development of the people of the region. There are 16 sevavratis of Hindu Sewa Pratishthan working in eight villages of this taluka and it is only just nine months they have started their work by opening a Shishu Mandir. These sevavratis have also started Kishore Bharati and Matri Mandali and celebrate national festivals. Rakshabandhan and the annual events of Shishu Mandir with the involvement of locals have infused vigour in the minds of children and the female folk. The women of Budhihal village fought successfully for the closure of a liquor shop. There are numerous instances wherein the kids attending Shishu Mandirs virtually set an example to their elders, like a kid sharing his food with his neighbourhood friends in spite of his mother desisting him, which made the mothers set right her attitude. The lessons imparted at the Shishu Mandirs have made such a great impact on the minds of these young kids and has left an indelible impression on the elders.
