?Manurvaba? is a leading socio-cultural organisation of the coastal Orissa, which pioneers in the field of moral awakening of the people. It commands a special status among all other organisations functioning in this field for its course of action and mode of operation. The organisation was established in the year 1991 with a divine goal in view. Seeing the gradual increase of injustice and sin in society, some intellectuals of Kendrapada district thought of starting some constructive programmes for the purification of society. The noble mission ?Manurvaba? was the outcome of that.

?We got the inspiration from the Vedas and from the lives of the great men. In the Rig Veda it is said Manurvaba danaya daibya janam, which means be good and let others to be so. We took this philosophy of the Rig Veda as our guiding principle and worked in this regard,? said Shri Hrushikesh Rath, the notable preacher of Jagannath cult of Orissa. Shri Rath is also working as the working president of this organisation.

However, its work is limited to some districts of coastal Orissa, the quality of service rendered by the organisation is highly remarkable. Now it has more than about 1000 active members working in four coastal districts of Orissa. Shri Rath says: ?As Hindus we believe in the teachings of the Vedas, which are the ancient scriptures of the human civilisation. Everything is codified in the Vedas. According to the direction of the Vedas, we perform hawans in each family, we fix a day and gather at the house of a particular person and perform our divine rituals.? Besides, the organisation distributes study materials to the needy children of schools and teaches them morals, Yoga, etc. The students are taught to be abided by morals and truth and are encouraged through prize too.

Keeping the galloping conversions in view, ?Manurvaba? has targeted to start 351 satsangas during this year. About 200 villages are already connected with regular satsangas, informed Shri Suresh Ch. Swain, the president of the organisation, while talking to this correspondent.

Without receiving a single pie from the government, it is perhaps the only organisation in the state that is working for the purification of human hearts and is infusing divine qualities into the citizens.
