Dr Pravin Togadia, general secretary of VHP, alleged that the Central Government was discriminating against Hindus. Talking to mediapersons in Jaipur he said that government was recruiting people in the name of religion and encouraging discrimination in the army in the name of religion. ?After recruitment in the army, the Hindu youth are prevented from applying tilak on their forehead, though no ban is imposed on Muslims for growing a beard,? he said. Dr Togadia further said that the Central Government was talking of 20 per cent reservation in the name of religion and that the Assam government had even introduced reservation in recruitment for police. ?The UPA government has even made the Budget communal. Now the government will bear the expenses of the Muslim candidates who appear for IPS or IAS exams,? he said. Terming the demand of LJP leader, Ram Vilas Paswan, for a Muslim Chief Minister in Bihar, as anti-constitutional, he wondered how a Union Minister could openly support a particular religion. He said the government had remained silent over the arrest of Shankara-charya but had declared a three-day national mourning on the death of Pope. On granting the status of a Minority University to Aligarh Muslim University, he said the HRD Minister was misleading the countrymen and Parliament since the AMU had never been a minority university.
