Saints of Swami Narayan sect visit Nagaland

Hindu Chetna

The recent visit of two senior saints of Swami Narayan sect, Swami Purna Prakash and Swami Surya Prakash, to the north-eastern states has energised the people of the region. People from remote areas, who had so far seen only Christian nuns and fathers, were surprised to see the Hindu saints. They had heard about Hindu saints but had not ever seen them. This was made possible by Vishwa Hindu Parishad, which runs several schools in these states. Both the Swamis visited the M.E. School, Hojaichak, situated on the Manipur-Nagaland border. This school was started by VHP in 1988. The speech by Swamijis was translated into Jemi-Naga language by the district education officer, Shri Ramkui Jemi. Both the Swamis were thanked by a local farmer and his speech was also translated into Hindi by Shri Jemi. In his speech, Swamijis called upon the people to set an example of disciplined life before their children through their own conduct. Similar functions were organised in Haflong, Kalachand, Hojaichak, Silvar (Barakmeli), Dhoomachara (Tripura), etc. Both the Swamis held separate meetings with the parents and students of the schools.
