?Ramanbhai Shah

The golden jubilee conference of BMS concluded in New Delhi on April 5 with a call by veteran leader Shri Ramanbhai Shah to fight against the double standards of the Central Government. The conference was inaugurated by Shri Ramanbhai Shah on April 3 by lighting the lamp. Earlier Shri S. Chandrashekahr Rao, Union Labour Minister was scheduled to inaugurate the conference but he could not turn up due to health problems.

Speaking at the inaugural session, Shri Hasubhai Dave, BMS president, said that after liberalisation various changes in the industrial sector were effected affecting the interest of the workers. ?In such a situation the role of labour organisations becomes very vital. In the growing situation of poverty, retrenchment, unemployment, VRS, low interest rates, the labourers are getting disorganised. It is necessary for both the employers and the employees to bring desirable changes in their mindset and thinking to continue the industrial peace process. Workers need to bring a change in their style of working to increase production and productivity, while the employers should treat the workers not as their servants but as their partners. There should be no place for exploitation in the industrial sector,? he said.
