Shri Ashok Singhal, working president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has warned West Bengal Chief Minister, Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, to avoid taking Islamic terrorism in a lighter vein and thereby endanger the integrity of the country. He urged the Chief Minister to hear the warning bells and not indulge in Muslim appeasement.

Talking to the press in Kolkata on December 15, Shri Singhal said the state Chief Minister, Buddhadeb Bhatta-charya had repeatedly compared the fundamentalist Muslim organisations, like the Al Qaeda, with the RSS and VHP. ?This means he is equating constitutional and peaceful organisations with violent organisations. Thus, he is paying disrespect to the Constitution of India,? he said, adding that communists had never shown any respect to the Constitution of India and the law of the land. He reminded the communist leaders that except for Jammu & Kashmir, it was only in West Bengal that the Muslim population was the largest among all the states as per the 2001 Census. ?By ignoring the gravity of the situation and indulging in Muslim appeasement, the communists are helping in the conspiracy of creating another Partition. The Hindus of Assam and West Bengal are in great danger today. Both, the communists and the Congress, are responsible for this situation. Bangladeshi infiltrators are being provided shelter in these states. We apprehend a sudden aggression on the Hindus due to the demographic imbalance created in eastern India. The massacres of August 16 and October 10 in Kolkata may be repeated here anytime. The presence of thousands of madarsas, mosques and terrorist training camps in West Bengal constitutes the basis for such an apprehension. The money from Saudi Arabia and the activities of ISI are behind this conspiracy. Clear warning bells are being sounded and, if ignored today, the whole country may have to pay a heavy price tomorrow,? he added.
