NAGPUR, Sept 29: Set a pre-determined goal which is beyond your present capability to make you discover your latent strength and abilities, said Prof Dr I K Chopade, Dean (Administration) VNIT.

Chopade was addressing a gathering of students from North-eastern states, who have come here to pursue their further studies, organised by Friends of North-East India (FONEI), Nagpur on Sunday evening.

Prakash Badiye, FONEI President presided over the function organised to welcome the fresh students and felicitate those meritorious ones who had secured 75 per cent and above marks in their last qualifying examinations.

Dr Chopade said that success is a gradual attainment of pre-determined goal in life. Therefore, one must set a goal for himself which would help him realise his potential strength and mould his personality to achieve that objective.

He called upon the students to shun the attitude of not raising doubts and questions, and added that such mentality would restrict the intellectual growth of the seeker of knowledge.

He said that religious concepts could be converted into practical approaches to various fields of knowledge and learning.

Dr Chopade also advised the students to be ready to pay the price of the benefits. ?Only benefits are nowhere available. You have to pay for it?, he said adding that one should not demand anything free of cost.

Dr Chopade lamented the low presence of people of Nagpur to this programme. ?I expected more attendence from the Nagpurians?, he said.

FONEI President Prakash Badiye in his speech recalled his experiences in the Norrth-east and explained the rationale in organising such get togethers with the people of Nagpur.

He said that the FONEI would strive to strike a chord of friendship with the students and families of North-eastern states staying in Nagpur so that they would not feel lonely and left out.
