Janjati Vikas Samiti, Nagaland, a prominent voluntary organisation working for the betterment of different Janjati communities of Nagaland for the last 25 years, organised a three-days camp at Rani Gaidinliu Hostel in Dimapur. Janjati students studying at different hostels run by the Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, especially in Raipur, Nagpur, Dehradun, Delhi, Gorakhpur, Bhivani, Rudrapur, Viswema and Tening, participated in the camp, which was organised to celebrate the golden jubilee of the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram. “We have received a golden opportunity to make cultural, social and educational exchanges in the hostels. We have experienced love and affection of the local people. The hostels run by Kalyan Ashram have created unity among us. Our Naga students? performance has been the best in every field,” said Lozhoho, who studies at Gorakhpur Hostel and Kumari Hamsaidi, who studies at Raipur Hostel, while narrating their experiences at the function.
Meritorious students of various hostels were also honoured by the Samiti. In his speech, Chief Guest Captain Hekiyaji appreciated the activities of the Janjati Vikas Samiti and appealed to people to extend a helping hand to such a noble cause. Senior Kalyan Ashram leaders, Gajanan Bapat and Dr Krishna Gopal, also spoke on the occasion. The camp was attended by 87 students from Angami, Zeliang, Ao, Chakhesang, Pochury, Pom, Konyak, Rongmei, Dimasa, Rengma, Kheimungan Vanvasi communities. The local leaders who spoke on the occasion were Dr Wilubo, M. Rongmei, Ehuij, Adang, Ramjenag, Ku. Nambang, Ku. Reena and Ku. Tasile.
