“The activities of a section of the English media and Macaulayites Marxists are having an adverse impact on the Indian culture and asmita. If it is not prevented now, the country will become the target of destructive attacks by the Western nations. Camouflaged in a so called modern face, these people are making all efforts to ruin the asmita of the country,” said Shri K.S. Sudarshan, Sarsanghchalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of the third year Sangh Shiksha Varg held in Nagpur on June 13. The function was presided over by 86 year old renowned Yogacharya, Dr B.K. Das Iyengar. A total of 1,141 shiksharthis from all over the country participated in the Varg. It also included five shiksharthis from abroad.
Praising the efforts of the previous government in rectifying the wrongly presented history of the country, Shri Sudarshan said a section of English media and Marxists have again initiated attempts to revert to the old school curriculum in the name of desaffronisation. They have even disregarded the Supreme Court'sverdict in this regard. He said that Hinduism was not a religion but a way of life and the people who describe Hindus as communal now want to demoralise the Hindus. Pointing to the review of the film ‘Girlfriend?, carried by an English newspaper, the Sarsanghchalak condemned the attempt to jaundice the minds of youngsters. “This whole effort is a conspiracy to divert the future generation from its original cultural values. It is very unfortunate that the regional newspapers too have started adopting such wrong measures in their efforts to compete with each other,” he said.
Third year OTC concludes in Nagpur
Criticising a section of the English media for unnecessarily making the Gujarat riots an issue, the Sarsanghchalak said that they have closed their eyes to the original incident that led to the riots. “No newspaper seems to criticise the massacre of Hindus in Godhra. On the other hand, the riots that occurred as a reaction to the Godhra carnage are being given undue exposure in the press. In fact, the riots were an offshoot only in areas where the people had been burnt in Godhra,” he said. Commenting on the reports of attributing the Gujarat riots as the cause of the defeat of the BJP, he said, “If this was the reason, then the BJP would not have won the Assembly elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.”
In his speech, Dr B.K. Das Iyengar described the practice of yoga as the Indian shastra for leading a complete life. “Yoga provides health to the body, freedom from tension and concentration, all of which are necessary for both the body and the nation. The RSS has understood its importance and is moving in that direction. This practice must be praised,” he said.
