Bhopal: Another case involving the use of a fake identity on social media to contact young women has come to light in the capital, Bhopal. A young man, who posed as ‘Krish Jain’ on Instagram, concealed his true identity for about a year while befriending a 20-year-old woman from Bhopal; he subsequently entered into a romantic relationship with her and took her to Delhi under the pretext of marriage.
The woman alleges that her partner’s true identity was revealed only after they reached the Delhi railway station, when he suggested going to a mosque to perform the ‘Nikah’. The man she had believed to be ‘Krish Jain’ turned out to be ‘Jumman Ansari’. A dispute ensued at the railway station following the woman’s objection; subsequently, a joint operation by the Delhi GRP and Bhopal Police ensured the woman’s safe return, while the accused was arrested and sent to jail under judicial custody.
Station In-charge states: Case registered, investigation underway
Inspector Anil Yadav, Station In-charge of Nishatpura, stated that a case has been registered against Jumman Ansari based on the woman’s complaint. The accused was arrested and produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody in jail. He added that the police are investigating the entire sequence of events. Authorities are also trying to determine how long the accused had been using the fake identity and whether he had contacted any other young women in a similar manner.
Won Trust Over a Year Using a Fake Identity
According to the police, a 20-year-old woman from the Nishatpura area had connected with a young man from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, via Instagram about a year ago. The man identified himself as ‘Krish Jain’ and used this name on social media. Gradually, the two began communicating regularly. As they stayed in constant contact over a long period, the woman’s trust in him grew and a romantic relationship developed between them. Throughout this time, she never suspected his true identity.
Strengthened Trust After Visiting Bhopal
The investigation revealed that the accused had visited Bhopal some time ago to fully win the woman’s trust. He began living in the Karond area and started working there. The two met several times. Due to their frequent interactions and closeness, the woman became convinced that he intended to marry her; during this time, he had indeed assured her of marriage.
Took Her Straight to Delhi Under the Pretext of a Meeting
A few days ago, the accused asked the woman to meet him at Karond Square. When she arrived, he took her directly to the Bhopal railway station. From there, they boarded a train to Delhi. Meanwhile, her family grew worried when she did not return home. After an extensive search yielded no results, they filed a missing person report at the Nishatpura police station.
The family informed the police that the woman had been in contact with a young man and provided photographs of both of them. Recognising the seriousness of the situation, the Nishatpura police immediately circulated their photos and details to various Government Railway Police (GRP) stations. Police officials stated that sharing this information promptly made it possible to locate the woman quickly.
True Identity Revealed During Talk of Nikah at a Mosque
Upon reaching the Delhi railway station, the situation took an unexpected turn. The woman alleged that while leaving the station, the accused suggested they go to a mosque to perform the ‘Nikah’. She was shocked to hear this. Upon questioning, she discovered for the first time that the young man’s identity did not match what he had claimed on Instagram. It came to light that the man, who had identified himself as Krish Jain, was actually Jumman Ansari, a man involved in ‘Love Jihad’. Consequently, the young woman immediately refused to go through with the marriage.
Dispute at the Railway Station; GRP Intervenes
Following her refusal, an altercation broke out between the two within the railway station premises. Bystanders noticed the commotion, and the Delhi GRP arrived at the scene after being alerted. The police detained both individuals for questioning. During this process, their identities were confirmed based on photographs and details previously provided by the Bhopal Police. The Delhi GRP then contacted the Nishatpura Police to apprise them of the situation.
Bhopal Police Reach Delhi; Young Woman Brought Back Safely
Upon receiving the information, a team from the Nishatpura police station immediately departed for Delhi. The police took the young woman into their custody and, after completing the necessary formalities, brought her safely back to Bhopal. Meanwhile, the accused was taken into custody, and legal action was initiated against him. He was subsequently brought to Bhopal and produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody in jail.
