Guwahati: Despite tough measures by security forces, more and more Bangladeshi infiltrators are crossing into the Indian side. Assam police on June 23 arrested 10 Bangladeshi nationals illegally entering Indian territory and were staying in a lodge in Guwahati city. As per report, Bajrang Dal members and locals informed the police about the stay of a group of suspected people in a lodge in the city’s busy Paltan Bazar area.

After the input, Guwahati police raided a lodge namely ‘Baby Lodge’ in Paltan Bazar late on Tuesday night. Police intercepted 10 suspected people in the lodge staying without valid documents. In the initial inquiry the detained people confessed that they are Bangladeshi nationals and crossed the border with the help of two local touts. They were staying in the lodge arranged by the touts. Sources claimed that the Bangladeshi infiltrators group of 4 men, 5 women and a child was waiting to get fake India. documents as promised by the tout. The tout network

While the government and people of Assam are trying hard to make the state infiltrators free, some anti-social elements are still helping these infiltrators for some money. Two names of the tout network come up during the investigation of the arrest of Bangladeshi nationals in the city. Hriday Deka and Chandan Rajbanshi are the suspected touts helping the Bangladeshi group entering Assam and staying in a lodge in Guwahati. Police have launched a manhunt to nab the touts for further investigation. The number of infiltrators and their whereabouts will be revealed by their arrest only.

33 Bangladeshi arrests in 15 Days

This arrest is not the first instance in Guwahati city. Assam Police on June 19 (Friday) evening detained 14 suspected Bangladeshi nationals from a guest house in the Arya Nagar locality of Guwahati during a verification drive aimed at identifying illegal intruders in the area. ‘It was a routine drive based on some intel inputs. All the detained people are suspected as of now and proper investigation will reveal the truth”, a senior city police official said. Acting on intelligence inputs, police teams swooped down on RR Guest House in Arya Nagar, where the group was found staying. The detained individuals include men, women, and children. Officials said suspicion mounted when none of the occupants could produce valid identity or travel documents when questioned by the police.

Earlier on June 11, based on the input provided by alert passengers, Railway Police arrested 9 Bangladeshi infiltrators including women and children from the Silchar-Guwahati express. The growing infiltration by Bangladeshi intruders to Guwahati city has caused a panic amongst the citizens of the largest city of Northeast on their safety and security. People are demanding more strict vigil and legal actions against the continuous infiltration.
