NAGPUR: A sensational case involving the rape, blackmail and alleged coercion for religious conversion of a married woman has come to light in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Based on the victim’s complaint, the police have arrested two accused individuals, while a search is underway for a ‘Hazrat Maulana’ from Tamia, Madhya Pradesh. The incident has sparked widespread discussion and controversy after a video related to the case went viral on social media.

It has been revealed that the 24-year-old victim is engaged in the property trading business. Her husband serves in the Indian Air Force and is currently posted in another city. According to the complaint, in February 2025, a former classmate named Ayyaz Taj Madare contacted her under the pretext of buying a plot. The woman alleges that Ayyaz exploited her trust to lure her to a hotel on Wardha Road. There, she was allegedly given juice laced with a sedative, causing her to lose consciousness. The victim alleges that she was raped while unconscious and that the entire incident was filmed.

Allegations of blackmail and extortion of lakhs of rupees using the video

In her complaint, the woman claims that the accused repeatedly sexually exploited her by threatening to make the video and photographs public. Furthermore, approximately Rs 3.90 lakh was extorted from her through this blackmail.

Viral video intensifies the investigation

A video circulating on social media shows the accused allegedly reciting the “Kalma” with the woman and repeatedly blowing on her. The case took a new turn after the video surfaced and the police have initiated an investigation into this aspect as well. Victim Claims Forced Religious Conversion

In her complaint, the victim alleges that on May 31, she was taken to the Kalmeshwar area of Nagpur, where she was introduced to Amin Shaikh and Hazrat Maulana, a resident of Tamia, Madhya Pradesh. The woman states that she was taken to a secluded location where certain religious rituals were performed. Subsequently, the accused claimed that her religion had been converted. The victim alleges that she was subjected to constant mental pressure and intimidation throughout this process.

Victim Remained Silent for a Long Time Due to Fear

According to the woman, she lived in a state of fear and stress for a long period due to the threats and blackmailing by the accused; this is why she did not disclose the incident to anyone. The matter came to light when her husband returned home a few days ago. The victim recounted her entire ordeal to him, after which they went to the Songaon police station and lodged a complaint.

Two Arrested; Search On for Another Accused

Based on the complaint, the police have arrested Ayyaz Taj Madare (26) and Amin Shaikh (30). Both accused were produced in court and remanded to five days of police custody. Special police teams are conducting raids at suspected locations to trace the absconding accused, Hazrat Maulana.

Case Registered Under Several Serious Charges

The police have registered a case against the accused under various sections, including rape, extortion, coercion for religious conversion, criminal intimidation, and provisions of the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act. Officials state that the investigation is proceeding based on electronic evidence, viral videos, and the victim’s statement.

Further legal action will be taken based on the available evidence once the investigation is complete; however, this incident once again highlights that, despite stringent laws, alleged Islamists harboring a ‘jihadi’ mindset are not desisting from their extremist, violent and ‘jihadi’ agenda of forced conversion. In such a situation, it certainly seems that people like them have absolutely no fear of any rules or laws!
