NEW DELHI: In an extensive operation targeting interstate narcotics networks, law enforcement agencies from Telangana, Hyderabad, and Goa successfully apprehended three suspects operating a drug supply channel between the coastal state and Telangana. The operation was spearheaded by Telangana’s Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE Force).  The individuals taken into custody have been identified as 36-year-old Priteesh Narayan Borkar, Basharath Ahmed, and Tarun.

The Key Suspect’s Background and Operations

The primary accused, Priteesh Narayan Borkar, was tracked down in Anjuna, Goa, following discreet police surveillance. Borkar is a repeat offender who was previously booked in a 2022 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) case. He maintained an extensive network of over 1,000 customers across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, managing an organised system of clients and sub-peddlers to supply drugs directly to consumers.

Borkar has a history of run-ins with law enforcement in Hyderabad. He was initially apprehended by the Osmania University police in 2022, and multiple cases were subsequently registered against him by various city police stations. Authorities noted that he was also wanted in separate pending cases registered by the Miyapur and Allapur police stations in Hyderabad. In the 2022 crackdown, Hyderabad police had stated that Borkar and an associate procured bulk quantities of ecstasy pills, LSD blots, MDMA, and charas for resale.

Recoveries and Ongoing Investigation

During the latest operation in Goa, law enforcement recovered 13 LSD blots, multiple ecstasy pills, and approximately 100 units of charas. The seized narcotics have a collective market value estimated at around Rs 1.5 lakh.

Following his apprehension, an initial case was registered in North Goa, after which the Telangana police successfully obtained court permission to take the accused into custody. Investigators are currently focusing on uncovering the broader supply chain, which includes examining the roles of intermediaries, local distributors, and end customers. Officers are tracing how the narcotics were procured, transported, and distributed, while also analysing financial transactions to track down additional members of the network.

Public Appeal

Amidst these ongoing operations, EAGLE officials have issued an earnest appeal to parents, educational institutions, and citizens across the state. They have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected drug-related activities by contacting the force’s toll-free helpline at 1908 or via WhatsApp at 8712671111.
