Jodhpur police bust work from home blackmail racket; 2 Muslim men arrested, nude videos & data of 30 women recovered

Jodhpur Rural Police have arrested two Muslim men who operated an organised racket targeting young women across India under the pretext of offering work from home jobs, as per a report in Dainik Bhaskar.

The accused created fake profiles, assigned simple social media tasks and then extracted private photos and videos which they used for blackmail and extortion. Nude videos and chats of around 30 women along with personal data of more than 200 others were recovered from their mobiles.

How the racket worked

The accused approached women on platforms such as Snapchat using IDs linked to work from home opportunities. They assigned tasks such as liking, sharing and following reels on social media. Once trust was built they demanded private photos and videos as part of further tasks or higher earnings. After obtaining the material the accused switched to blackmail.

They threatened to make the videos viral unless the women paid money or joined nude video calls. Police said the network was spread nationwide with contact details of more than 200 women recovered from the accused mobiles. Of these about 10 were from Rajasthan and more than 50 from Mumbai while the rest belonged to other states.

Jodhpur victim complaint triggered the probe

The case came to light after an 18 year old woman from Jodhpur district filed a complaint at the Women Police Station Jodhpur Rural on 31 August 2026. She told police she was contacted on Snapchat through a work from home ID. After performing the assigned tasks the accused obtained her nude videos. They then began blackmailing her, forcing repeated nude video calls and demanding money.

On 11 December 2025 the main accused travelled to Jodhpur, called the victim to a hotel and allegedly raped her. Blackmail and money demands continued even after that incident.

Arrests in Mumbai

Acting on cyber and technical evidence the Jodhpur Rural Police Cyber Cell under the supervision of SP Pankaj Yadav traced the accused to Mumbai.

A special team was sent there. After two days of reconnaissance the team arrested the main accused Faizan Ahmed, 23, a Muslim resident of Shivaji Nagar Mankhurd Mumbai, on 18 September. Officers posed as LPG cylinder delivery personnel to approach his house. Following interrogation of Faizan the team arrested his associate Aamir Hussain, 24, a Muslim native of Sahebganj Jharkhand who was living in Mumbai, on 28 September.

Both men were brought to Jodhpur for further questioning. Police said the two also worked at a bakery that made cakes.

Evidence recovered and parallel case in Mumbai

From the mobiles of the accused police recovered nude videos and chat records involving around 30 women. They also found company style work from home profiles containing mobile numbers, email IDs, Instagram handles and other personal details of more than 200 women.

A parallel case has been registered against the same gang at Marine Drive police station in Mumbai after another victim came forward there. Jodhpur Police are now analysing the full data and contacting other victims and their families. Interrogation of the arrested men is continuing to identify any additional members of the network.

SP Pankaj Yadav confirmed that the preliminary investigation has established the scale of the racket and that efforts are on to reach every woman whose details appear in the recovered data.
