A father in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas has alleged that a local man, identified as Monirul Pailan, repeatedly stalked, harassed and sexually assaulted his minor daughter and threatened to kill her if she refused to marry him.
The allegations are contained in a written complaint submitted at Joynagar Police Station in September 2026.
According to the complaint, the harassment began when the girl was travelling to school. The accused followed her, attempted to speak to her against her wishes, grabbed her hand and tried to drag her away on several occasions.
Girl sent to hostel for safety
The girl’s father, identified in the complaint as Gopal, stated that her mother died around nine years ago. Concerned about her safety, he subsequently sent his daughter to a hostel.
However, the complaint alleges that Pailan continued to follow the girl and waited outside the hostel. Despite being told to stay away, he continued contacting and intimidating her and later began blackmailing her.
The father further alleged that his work frequently required him to remain away from home, leaving his daughter alone for extended periods.

Allegations of repeated sexual assault
According to Gopal’s complaint, Pailan entered the family’s house when the girl was alone and sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions.
The father further alleged that the accused subsequently pressured his daughter to marry him and threatened to kill her if she refused.
The complaint describes a pattern of stalking, intimidation, blackmail and sexual assault rather than an isolated incident.
Father appeals for help after delay in arrest
Gopal has claimed that even 27 days after the written complaint was submitted, Pailan had not been arrested.
On September 28, 2026, he recorded a video appeal in which he appeared distressed and in tears. He appealed to Hindu organisations to help secure the accused’s arrest and sought protection for his daughter and other family members.
The father said the family was seeking concrete police action and protection rather than further assurances.
