Several families in Bigaudi have reportedly put up ‘House for Sale’ signs outside their homes following the death of Bhaiyalal Kol.
The signs have become a visible indication of the anxiety among some residents after the tribal man’s death. Families have cited security concerns and alleged harassment while expressing apprehension about continuing to live in the village.
The development has also raised concerns about a possible exodus from the locality if residents continue to feel unsafe.
Bhaiyalal Kol found dead in village well
The latest tension followed the death of Bhaiyalal Kol, a tribal resident of Bigaudi.
According to the report, Kol was allegedly attacked during a dispute and was subsequently thrown into a village well.
Police arrested three men in connection with the case. They have been identified as Afsar Khan, Ismail alias Pappu Khan and Ajmer Khan.
A criminal case has been registered and the investigation is underway to establish exactly what happened before Kol’s death, including the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and the dumping of his body in the well.
The accused are presumed innocent unless convicted by a court.
Residents recall earlier death
The latest incident has also revived memories of an earlier death involving another Bigaudi resident, Shivnarayan, about a year ago.
Residents have referred to the earlier incident while expressing concerns about law and order in the area.
The two incidents are being discussed together by some villagers because of their impact on the local community. However, the circumstances and investigation in each case are separate.

Maihar Superintendent of Police Avadhesh Pratap Singh directed police personnel to increase patrolling in Bigaudi following the incident.

Senior police and administrative officials also visited the village and interacted with residents.
Officials assured villagers that their safety would be protected and appealed to them not to act on rumours or panic.
