NEW DELHI: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on September 25, Friday announced a series of year-long programmes across India and the world to mark the birth centenary of Shri Ashok Singhal. Addressing a press conference, senior advocate and VHP International President Alok Kumar said that from September 27, people would pay tribute to the inspiring life, visionary thought and unparalleled contribution of Ashok Singhal ji towards the nation and society.
Alok Kumar said that following the mukti of Ayodhya Dham, the VHP hopes to take forward with greater speed Ashok Singhal’s resolve for the mukti of Kashi and Mathura during the centenary year. He said the VHP would also work to advance Ashok Singhal ji’s unfinished initiatives, including a ban on illegal religious conversions, promotion of Ghar Wapsi, propagation of Vedic knowledge and science, liberation of temples from government control, and promotion of social harmony and service.
For this purpose, thousands of seminars, public meetings and other programmes will be organised throughout the year. The grand inaugural ceremony of the birth centenary year, organised jointly by the VHP and Ashok Singhal Foundation in Delhi, will be held on September 27, Sunday, from 4 pm at the Plenary Hall, Level-3, Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
A special exhibition based on Ashok Singhal’s life, spiritual values, organisational work, role in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement and dedication to Bharatiya culture will be organised on the occasion. A coffee-table book titled ‘Divine Footprints of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram’ will also be released. The replica of the ‘Shri Ram Stambh’ will be unveiled and the ‘Shri Ram Stambhs’ will be digitally launched.
Through these pillars, an effort will be made to connect people with the life of Bhagwan Shri Ram, his forest-exile route and the cultural and spiritual places associated with it. With the support of the Ashok Singhal Foundation and VHP, a camp for artificial limb implantation and distribution of assistive devices for persons with disabilities will also begin at Karsevakpuram in Ayodhya on September 27.
The five-day service initiative will continue till October 1, 2026. Through the camp, artificial limbs and necessary assistive devices will be provided to persons with disabilities in need, with the aim of making their lives easier.
Alok Kumar said the objective of the birth centenary programmes is to take Ashok Singhal ji’s life-message to a wider section of society, awaken a sense of pride in Bharatiya culture and provide new energy to activities related to service, organisation, values and social harmony.
Under this initiative, inaugural programmes of different provinces will be organised at 47 prominent locations across the country between September 27 and October 4. Throughout the year, programmes related to service, social harmony, public awareness, seminars and exhibitions will continue at thousands of locations across the world.
At Bharat Mandapam, Param Pujya Yugpurush Mahamandaleshwar Swami Parmanand Giri Ji Maharaj will grace the occasion with his presence. Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah will attend as the Chief Guest, while Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Sarkaryawah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale will be present as the Special Guest.
