Jaipur: Guru Tegh Bahadur’s sacrifice for the protection of Dharma foiled Aurangzeb’s designs, as his efforts to break resolve of Bharatiyas and make them abandon their faith failed, said RSS Sah Sarkaryavah Dr Krishna Gopal while addressing a lecture as the chief speaker at Rajasthan University, Jaipur on September 21, 2026.
The lecture was organised by the Sri Guru Gobind Singh Chair for National Integration and Sikh Studies and Bharatiya Abhyutthan Samiti, Rajasthan, to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.
Referring to the life and travels across Bharat of Guru Nanak Dev, he said that his influence created a wave of spirituality across the country, which became a protective shield for Bharat. In this tradition, Guru Hargobind resolved to protect Dharma, and later Guru Tegh Bahadur made the supreme sacrifice for the protection of Dharma. For this reason, he is known as “Hind Ki Chadar”.
Chief guest Additional Director General of Police Rupinder Singh called upon people to imbibe the teachings of the Gurus in their lives. He emphasised strengthening social harmony and unity through the principles of compassion and love taught by Guru Tegh Bahadur.
Special guest Rajasthan University Vice-Chancellor Kalpana Kateja described the Guru tradition as Bharat’s great heritage and underlined the importance of the teachings of the Gurus for global unity.
The programme began with the national song ‘Vande Mataram’. On the occasion, a short animated documentary based on the life of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji was also screened. At the conclusion of the programme, Bharatiya Abhyutthan Samiti president Dr Ramesh Chandra Agrawal expressed gratitude to all the guests and those present.
