New Delhi: A video has gone viral showing a Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) professor losing her temper after ABVP students raised slogans against Umar Khalid, the UAPA-accused in the Delhi riots case, during a book discussion programme on campus. The university had cancelled the auditorium booking after discovering that organisers had reserved the venue in the name of marking Adivasi Diwas on August 10, 2026, while the actual programme was a discussion on Umar Khalid’s book.Following the cancellation, the organisers, along with a few JNU professors, began addressing students outdoors. ABVP activists then arrived and raised slogans against Khalid, who has been denied bail multiple times by courts and faces charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in connection with the 2020 Delhi riots.

These psychopath professors are the real masterminds.

They are behind the brainwashing of students in the universities.

Just look at her arrogance.

As the programme proceeded, ABVP students reached the venue and raised slogans opposing Umar Khalid and questioning the holding of a programme linked to him on the university campus. The protest brought the issue into sharp focus, with students making their position clear through slogans.

Videos from the campus showed the professor confronting the ABVP students during the protest. She appeared visibly angry while engaging with the students, resulting in a heated verbal exchange. The confrontation soon became one of the most prominent moments of the episode.

ABVP maintained that its protest was directed at a programme linked to Umar Khalid and asserted the right of students to voice their opposition to events involving controversial political figures. The organisation questioned the rationale behind providing a university platform for such a programme.

The JNU administration cancelled the auditorium booking after discovering that complete details of the proposed event had not been disclosed when permission was sought. The organisers, however, proceeded with the discussion at another location on campus.
