Diljit Dosanjh’s concert in San Francisco on June 19 witnessed a brief disruption after a pro-Khalistan demonstrator jumped onto the stage holding a flag. The incident caused panic for a short while before venue security and local police intervened, tackled the individual, and took him into custody.
Diljit continued his performance during the incident and resumed singing and dancing after the person was apprehended.
A question that arises is, despite such extensive security arrangements, how did the individual manage to reach the stage carrying a Khalistan flag?
The disruption came amid recent online threats and interruptions linked to hardline factions, including Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), over Diljit’s appearances in mainstream Indian media.
The incident occurred as Diljit Dosanjh’s North American Aura World Tour 2026 drew to a close. The stadium and arena tour concluded with shows held on June 20 and 21, 2026, at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
Earlier, similar incidents had taken place. In May, during a concert in Calgary, videos showed some pro-Khalistan supporters waving flags in the crowd.
At that time, Diljit Dosanjh noticed them and briefly paused before pointing towards the crowd.
The singer’s concerts have, in the past, seen individuals waving pro-Khalistan flags and attempting to disrupt the events.
Notably, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), in a report, recognised the threat posed by Khalistani extremists in the country. The CSIS 2025 report, tabled in the Canadian Parliament, stated that the activities of Canada-based Khalistani elements continue to promote a violent extremist agenda.
