DEHRADUN: A huge crowd gathered during the final journey of former Chief Minister Major General Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri (Retd.). He was cremated with full state honours at the Khar Khadi cremation ground in Haridwar.
Army and police personnel paid their last respects by giving a guard of honour.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, along with ministers and public representatives, attended the funeral.
Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Major General Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri (Retd.) was given a final farewell with full state honours at the Khar Khadi cremation ground in Haridwar. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar were present during the ceremony.
A massive crowd turned up for the final journey of Major General Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri (Retd.), and people from all sections of society paid emotional tributes to him with tearful eyes. During the cremation, army and police personnel offered their final salute with a guard of honour. His son, Manish Khanduri, performed the last rites by lighting the funeral pyre.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the demise of Major General Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri was an irreparable loss for both the state and the nation. He said Khanduri had carried out exemplary work with transparency and discipline as an Army officer, Union Minister and Chief Minister. He added that Khanduri would always remain a source of inspiration for everyone and his absence would always be felt like that of a guardian.
Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that the life of former Chief Minister General Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri was an example of simplicity, discipline and honesty. He said Khanduri fulfilled every responsibility with complete dedication, whether as Chief Minister, Union Minister or Army officer. His contributions would always be remembered not only by Uttarakhand but by the entire country. Khattar also said that Khanduri’s role in promoting good governance and important ideas such as the Lokpal remained inspirational.
Former Maharashtra Governor and former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Bhagat Singh Koshyari, former Chief Ministers Vijay Bahuguna, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Tirath Singh Rawat, Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta, BJP Organisation General Secretary Ajey Kumar, MPs Anil Baluni and Ajay Bhatt, Cabinet Ministers Subodh Uniyal, Satpal Maharaj, Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, Ganesh Joshi and Saurabh Bahuguna, along with Madan Kaushik, Pradeep Batra, Khajan Das, MLAs and saints were also present on the occasion.
