Unidentified gunmen shot down the co-founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba(LeT) Amir Hamza. He was also the mastermind behind the multiple high-profile terror attacks calibrated by LeT, a Pakistan-based terror organisation. The unknown gunmen opened fire on Amir Hamza outside a news channel office in Lahore. The terrorist sustained several injuries and was immediately taken to the hospital and his condition remains critical.

As per the statement issued by the Lahore Police, the unidentified attackers suddenly opened fire at the vehicle of the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurmat-e-Rasool Pakistan, an Islamic religious organisation at Hamdard Chowk. However, all the individuals in the vehicle remained safe, Lahore Police further added, while saying that the search operations are underway to identify and arrest the unidentified gunmen. Meanwhile, a high-alert has been issued across Lahore.

Amir Hamza as a co-founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba(LeT) terror network, has espoused multiple high-scale terror attacks across countries. He is a US designated terrorist. He is closely associated with other kingpins of LeT such as Hafiz Saeed, one of the founders of LeT and a mastermind behind the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. Amir Hamza was also associated with the Afghan Mujahideen. Amir Hamza was widely infamous for his fierce and provocative speeches and writings that glorified Islamic martyrdom. He was also the editor of the official publications of LeT and has authored many books promoting and propagating violent extremism and radical Islamist ideologies.

Amir Hamza is said to be associated with the core committee of LeT and has played a vital role in terrorist recruitment, fund raising, plotting, radicalisation activities and executing terror attacks and also has been a kingpin in negotiating the release of various detained militants across countries. It is also said that in 2018 vowing to internal conflicts, Amir Hamza distanced himself from LeT and founded a radical organisation called as Jaish-e-Manqafa and continued militant activities under this banner.

This terror group Jaish-e-Manaqafa also strategizes terror plots against the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir in India. As per the sources, the terror outfit founded by Amir Hamza has a free hand in Pakistan and operates with full liberty. It is also said that Amir Hamza still has close contacts and functions with the top leadership of LeT. Amir Hamza along with Hafiz Saeed founded the LeT terror organisation around 1985 & 1986 and has plotted many terror activities against India and across the globe.

Also, this is the second time in less than a year that Amir Hamza has been targeted by unknown gunmen. In May 2025, unidentified attackers shot down Amir Hamza outside his residence in Lahore. Following the incident, it is said that the Pakistani government heightened security outside the residence of Amir Hamza. Despite that, he has been attacked again. Amir Hamza is also said to be the mastermind behind the 2005 terror attack on the Indian Institute of Science(IISC) in Bengaluru. This was one of the maiden terror plots of LeT outside Kashmir.
