Barrackpore: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on April 7, Tuesday hit back strongly at Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif’s recent remarks related to striking Kolkata. Defence Minister asserted that Pakistan should not give “such provocative statement” because they suffered the consequences when Pakistan was divided into two parts. Speaking to ANI, Rajnath Singh further said that only the god would know how many parts Pakistan would be divided into if “they cast an eye on Bengal”.

“Pakistan’s Defence Minister should not have given such a provocative statement. 55 years ago, they suffered the consequences when Pakistan was divided into two parts. If they try to cast an eye on Bengal, only god knows how many parts Pakistan will be divided into this time”, reiterated Rajnath Singh. Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on April 4, Saturday said that Islamabad would retaliate by striking Kolkata in the event of any future misadventure by India.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was illustrating the events of 1971 Bangladesh Liberation war, when Pakistan was divided into two parts as an impact of India’s strong military posture. Rajnath Singh thus made firm remarks to protect the sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security, while speaking at a public rally in the poll bound state of West Bengal.

Earlier Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had issued big warning to Pakistan by asserting that if Islamabad accelerates any misadventure against India, amidst current geopolitical crisis in West Asia, the compounding effect wil be, India will take an unprecedented and decisive action. The Defence Minister further reiterated that Operation Sindoor is not yet over. He made these comments while speaking at the Sainik Samman Sammelan in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Post the Pahlgam terror attack on April 22, 2025, India has taken a solid and decisive stand against the atrocities of Pakistan and its policy of state-sponsored terrorism. Apart from keeping the Indus Water Treaty(IWT) in abeyance, India also launched Operation Sindoor, a swift military response to Pakistan’s terror motives. During Operation Sindoor, India attacked the key terror infrastructures and safe-havens of Jaish-e-Mohammad(JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba(LeT) located in Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir and also in Pakistan mainland. Thus, New Delhi struck the roots of terrorism. Yet, Pakistan doesn’t seem to rectify its past misdeeds and thwart its label as a state-sponsor of terrorism. It is relentlessly indulging in issuing illicit threats and making false allegations on India, apparently to mask its terror motives and build fake narratives.
